9 Toronto sandwiches we're bringing with us this long weekend
Stay safe and bring along an emergency sandwich, just in case.
Few things hit the spot like a really good sandwich does.
We’ve talked about our favourite sandwiches here before, and countless other times on TasteToronto. But, with the weather heating up quickly and the long weekend ahead of us, we thought it’d be a great time to remind you of some of the great handhelds this city has to offer + a few you should definitely grab this weekend.
Whether you’re road-tripping to a country-side escape or hoping you don’t see a familiar face at Trinity Bellwoods, you’ll probably need a tasty sandwich to accompany you.
Donna’s - Roast Beef Sandwich
If you haven’t been to Donna’s for lunch before, make it a thing ASAP. This roast beef sandwich is perfect in basically every way. And, if you are a victim of pesky spring allergies, the horseradish cream really clears out your sinuses.
Linny’s Luncheonette - Potato & Pickle
Brand spankin’ new! If you’re lucky enough to get a pastrami at David Schwartz’ new deli on Ossington, I’m happy for you. But if you have the luxury of still being able to grab their vegetarian sandwich, you are even luckier.
Vilda’s - Steelhead Trout Sandwich
A special for this weekend only at your favourite little Dovercourt sandwich spot.

Bar Clams - Fish Sandwich
The long weekend isn’t long enough for a trip out to Atlantic Canada, but you can get a little taste of it at this trendy Dundas West spot.

Crudo - “il Crudo”
A certified gem in Etobicoke, this spot has been slinging some unreal Italian panuozzos. Stacked thick with prosciutto di parma, buffalo mozzarella and arugula, this will feed you a family, or just yourself—no judgement.

The Black Camel - Braised Beef Brisket
No sandwich list is taken seriously without this Toronto icon. Messy in the best way and covered with a sauce of choice, this is always a must-have.

BEAR Steak Sandwiches - Roasted Pork Sandwich
Skip the steak sandwich this time around and trust us when we say go for the roasted pork sandwich. Served with a pork jus, it’s a special sandwich that we feel doesn’t get its flowers.
Sugo - Veal Parmigiana
A no-frills American-Italian classic. This will curb all your comfort food needs.

Alfie’s - “The Mona Lisa”
This viral sandwich is getting hyped for a reason. Lemon basil pesto, fresh burrata, pistachios and aged prosciutto di parma, all tucked into a freshly flamed dough.
