There’s no doubt Toronto is expensive. Food, living, groceries, costs—everything seems to come with a hefty price tag. While the buzz word “cheap eats” comes up pretty frequently in our world, it typically comes with a wide price range and emphasizes value over actual cost.
For this list, I thought we could stick to a budget. A $10 bill isn’t too hard to come by, and it can surely get you something extremely satisfying to eat in Toronto, you just have to know where to go!

This is for sure not the only Chinatown spot that will be listed here, but it may be out favourite. For $9.99, you get 10 steamy, delicious and juicy dumplings that will absolutely knock your socks off.

I recently had the pleasure of putting a friend onto the pleasure of a Chinese bakery. Multiple delicious items for between $1 to $3.75, so you can build yourself a pretty solid meal for under $10.

Momos - Loga’s Corner
A legend in the budget eats game! While the price of the momos here have gone up over the years, you’re still looking at about $9 for a box of delicious steamed momos, and $10 on the dot for them to be fried.

Beef Empanada - Jumbo Empanadas
Empanadas are typically a great budget food option, but what makes these ones a great option are… you guessed it—they’re pretty jumbo. At $8.50, it’s a solid quick bite, and if you have a little extra cash hanging around, you could probably pick up a cheese empanada to follow it up ($3.50).

We’re no doubt double patty or nothing people… but we’re on a budget here! This single patty smash burger will still send you to onion heaven regardless.

First off, this is an underrated beef patty in Toronto. Hot take. Second, it’s stuffed with their jerk chicken, topped with coleslaw and jammed into a pillowy coco bread. What more can you ask for at $8.50?
